Archive: Star Wars Galaxies

I can't believe I found a bunch of my old work for Star Wars galaxies from around 2001-2002. I had forgotten I even did some of this stuff. Not impressive by today's standards, but maybe there are some old SWG fans out there who might like to see some old art. I think back then we weren't as specialized. Artists tended to work in an area, but quite often got utilized where needed. I did plenty of environments, cities, props, dungeons, creatures, spaceships, space stations, a few characters and even VFX.

Mustafar Conference Room. One thing to note about most of the assets, including these dungeons, is that the geometry had to be airtight. There is no crashing on any of the interiors I built for SWG, all painstakingly welded together!

The main reason to weld all vertices is that the lighting was all baked into the vertices.

I was usually only given a few weeks to create a full dungeon set from start to finish. I got quite good at building versatile modular sets.

The Rebel Space Station for Jump to Lightspeed. I made sure it had quite a bit of detail for players skimming the surface, but it still went to 2k tris at it's lowest LOD, with minimal loss.

Spaceships took a lot of effort. They are meant to have paintjobs so the initial color scheme was neutral. We built many different weapons and gear to outfit each ship.
